President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the president of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Joseph Blatter on May 16, 2012. The head of the state said that “Uzbekistanis know Joseph Blatter as a prominent public figure who has dedicated himself to the development of international and national football.”

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov will participate at the summits of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States to be held in Moscow on May 15, 2012.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov congratulated Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his inauguration as the president of the Russian Federation and Francois Hollande with his election as the president of the French Republic. 

Today, on May 7, 2012, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan received the Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mr. Zhang Xiao, and handed him a message from the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to the President of China Hu Jintao. 

On May 1, 2012 the U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Afghanistan with an unannounced visit. The same day he and Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed a strategic partnership agreement between the two countries in Kabul.
